Season 1 of Canada's Drag Race was officially announced via World of Wonder's Instagram on June 27, 2019[1]. The show is slated to air on CraveCanada, OutTV, and select territories on WOWPresents Plus.

On September 26, the judges of the show were revealed via social media; they include RuPaul's Drag Race alum Brooke Lynn Hytes, Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman, and Stacey McKenzie with Traci Melchor acting as a "squirrel friend."[2]

This season features contestants competing for the title of "Canada’s First Drag Superstar", a cash prize of $100,000 CAD (≈ $71,381 USD) and a year's worth of holiday stays with Hilton.
